Context

Digital@FEMSA, the technological innovation division offering digital solutions to simplify the lives of FEMSA's customers, set out to redefine retail in Mexico.

They envisioned a digital ecosystem where every convenience store could easily accept card payments via a mobile application. This approach would not only boost the growth of this sector but also modernize the shopping experience in the country.

Solution

With our support, Digital@FEMSA turned its vision into reality. To achieve this, we created a specialized technological division that addressed each stage of the application's production. The journey began with a UX/UI design, followed by the implementation of an SDK capable of integrating with a mobile Point of Sale (mPOS) device, ensuring the correct reading of bank cards.

Additionally, we developed a transactional Middleware to work hand in hand with the electronic payment processor.

We safeguarded each advancement with rigorous database standards, and to maintain an agile pace, we employed DevOps Pipelines in each deployment. The outcome: a digital tool that marks a before and after in this sector.

Outcomes

In just 9 months, we presented the MVP of this digital solution that redefines the landscape of retail commerce.

  • The application includes creating a technological unit from its infrastructure to deployment, bank certification as a payment aggregator, and implementation in production.
  • We achieved design, and development under PCI Compliance and certification with BBVA (e-global) 40% faster, from first line of code to production in only 9 months; setting a new standard for the industry.
  • Implementation of a Way of Work based on agile frameworks (SAFe) that allowed the coordinated growth of a team of more than 60 consultants in the construction of this product in an agile and efficient manner.

Today, multiple businesses are already taking advantage of its benefits, and the application is projected to successfully manage a robust volume of daily transactions.
